HC Deb 29 October 1953 vol 518 c408W
Mr. Finlay

asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government if he will take steps to extend the Physical Training and Recreation Act, 1937, to new town development corporations with a view to enabling the making of grants to them for physical training and recreation and for playing fields and for other similar purposes.

Mr. H. Macmillan

No. The Physical Training and Recreation Act, 1937, already applies to local authorities in the new town areas, and there would be no advantage to be gained from extending it to the development corporations.
