asked the Minister of Housing and Local Government how much has been paid in grants under the Rural Water Supplies and Sewerage Acts of 1944 and 1951, during the first six months of 1953, compared with the first six months of 1952 and 1951.

Mr. Marples

For the first six months of this year the figure for England and Wales was £1,914,378. The figure for the corresponding period of 1952 was £1,518,727 and for 1951 it was £862,528.
