asked the Minister of Works the total attendance at the Battersea Pleasure Gardens this season; how this compares with a similar period in 1952; what were the attendance and receipts during the period of reduced admission charge; and what were the comparable figures for 1952.

2,155,233 persons attended the Festival Pleasure Gardens in the 1953 season, which was 265,753 less than the attendance in 1952.

The average daily attendance during the period of reduced admission charge was 17,179 compared with 12,029 during the similar period last year. The average daily receipts from the reduced admission charge at 6d. were £420, which compares with the average daily receipts of £510 in 1952, when the reduced charge was 1s.
