HC Deb 27 October 1953 vol 518 cc358-60W
Mr. G. Williams

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he is satisfied that the compulsory dressing of cattle against warble fly is being carried out.

Sir T. Dugdale

The enforcement of the Warble Fly Order, which requires the dressing of warble-infested cattle, is the responsibility of the police and local authorities. While I am satisfied that they are doing all they can to secure compliance with the Order, there is little doubt that there is fairly widespread failure to observe it, particularly as regards young stock at grass. The Order is difficult to enforce and I am considering the possibility of further measures designed to improve the situation.
