HC Deb 26 November 1953 vol 521 c71W
Mr. C. Hughes

asked the Minister of Labour the percentage of the insured population now registered as unemployed in the county of Anglesey; the figures for the employment exchanges at Holy-head, Amlwch and Llangefni; and if he will give comparable percentages for Wales and the United Kingdom.

Sir W. Monckton

At 12th October the figures were 82 per cent. for Anglesey, 2.7 per cent. for Wales and 1.6 per cent. for the United Kingdom. It is not possible to compute reliable percentage rates of unemployment for the separate employment exchange areas in Anglesey, but the actual numbers unemployed at 12th October were 285 at Holyhead, 133 at Amlwch, 485 at Llangefni and 99 at Beaumaris.
