§ 99. Mr. Morleyasked the Minister of Education what percentage of primary and secondary school children in England and Wales are attending schools built since 1946, between 1919 and 1939, between 1870and 1914 and before 1870, respectively.
§ Miss HorsbrughBy the beginning of 1953 places had been provided by new post-war building for about 14 per cent. of the children then attending maintained primary and secondary schools. Half of these places were provided in new schools, as distinct from extensions to existing schools and huts built under the H.O.R.S.A. programme. I do not keep statistics which would enable me to answer the remainder of the Question.
