HC Deb 26 November 1953 vol 521 c75W
89. Mr. Janner

asked the Minister of Health whether, in view of the fact that most of the patients who will require masks as a protection from fog will be old people in the low income group, he will allow such masks to be issued free of any prescription charge.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

There are no grounds which would justify drawing a distinction between masks and other necessary drugs and appliances prescribed by general practitioners. Where the charge cannot be met without hardship the usual simple arrangements for securing a refund apply.
