HC Deb 25 November 1953 vol 521 c41W
72 and 73. Sir L. Plummer

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies (1) why the dead body of a Chinese woman bandit, shot and killed by Malayan security forces, was brought down from the jungle, then strapped to an upright plank and put on exhibition outside the police station at Kulim on 16th September;

(2) why the body of an Indian bandit, shot and killed by Malayan security forces, was put on exhibition outside the Kulim police station in mid-September.

Mr. Lyttelton

The bodies of these terrorists were not put on exhibition at Kulim police station. They were photographed, as is essential for criminal record and identification purposes. Owing to the siting and structure of the police station it was not possible to screen this operation completely from public sight. The High Commissioner is considering what action should be taken in future to exclude the public.
