asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the average expectation of life of a citizen in British Guiana in terms of the last available health survey, specifying also the expectation separately for persons of European descent, persons of Asian descent and persons of other descents, respectively.

Expectations of life at birth for the population of British Guiana as a whole were given in my reply of 21st October to a Question by the hon. Member for Dundee, East (Mr. G. M. Thomson). Figures calculated locally for the current expectation of life of males is 53 years for "East Indians" as well as for all races. Corresponding figures for females are 54 years for "East Indians" and 56 years for all races. No separate figures are available for Europeans.
