§ 90. Mr. Haleasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what steps he proposes to take to deal with the diminution in purchasing power of the dollar in British Guiana.
§ Mr. LytteltonWhat is important for British Guiana is not the purchasing power of the dollar, but the real standard of living. There is no doubt that, until progress was interrupted by the recent period of misgovernment, living standards were rising steadily and the restoration of sound administration should ensure, so far as Government's influence can go, that the rise is resumed.
