HC Deb 25 November 1953 vol 521 c57W
106. Mr. Slater

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many licensees of channels in Bands I, II, or III, have been given notice of any alteration in the channels now used by them; and if he will give details.

Mr. Gammans

No formal notices have been issued; but discussions have been going on with the B.B.C. about moving certain of their outside broadcast links from Band III.

107. Mr. Slater

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General which channels in Band III can be readily made available for commercial television; and what licensees now occupy them.

Mr. Gammans

Two channels between 184 and 196 megacycles per second could readily be made available. The licensees now occupying the band are the B.B.C. who use it for television outside broadcast links and a number of radio manufacturers who use it for experimental transmissions.
