asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies the total estimated expenditure on African education in Kenya in 1953, in Government, local authority and grant-aided schools; and how much of this is contributed by the African community in fees and from rates to African councils.

£2,131,924, of which fees from Africans represent £270,714 and contributions by the African District Councils £290,125.
