HC Deb 24 November 1953 vol 521 c28W
Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Pensions and National Insurance how many retirement pensioners there were in Scotland in each of the last seven years; how many of these were in receipt of National Assistance in each year; and what was the total sum paid in such assistance in each year.

Mr. Turton

Retirement pensions were paid from July, 1948, and I would refer the hon. Member to the figures for that year and succeeding years I gave him on 13th July this year. Details of the total amounts of National Assistance grants paid to pensioners in Scotland are not available.
