Mr. Watkinsasked the Minister of Labour how many young agricultural workers in each of the Welsh counties have been granted deferment of call-up since February, 1951; how many have changed their employment since their first deferment; and in how many cases notices of call-up have been issued because of the change of employer.
§ Mr. WatkinsonThe information asked for in the first two parts of the Question is not available and could not be obtained without a special inquiry involving a disproportionate expenditure of time and labour. Taking Wales as a whole, however, the number of persons deferred was 3,427 up to 30th September last. In reply to the last part of the Question continued deferment was refused in 79 recent cases following change of employment, but in all these cases call-up has been suspended.
