HC Deb 19 November 1953 vol 520 c198W
138. Mr. Morley

asked the Minister of Education if she has considered the report sent to her by the Brighton Education Committee that the employment of schoolchildren to the extent permitted by her Department is likely to have a harmful effect upon their education, health and welfare; and what action she is taking in this matter.

Miss Horsbrugh

I received a letter from the Brighton local education authority last July in which they expressed their concern that I had varied the terms of the licences granted by them to three children to take part in pantomime the previous Christmas. I explained to the authority that the changes had been made to bring the licences into line with those granted to other children in the same troupe by other local education authorities. I have received no further representations from the authority.
