HC Deb 19 November 1953 vol 520 cc202-3W
Mr. de Freitas

asked the Minister of Supply whether he is aware that the management of A. V. Roe, Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, who are engaged on work for his Department, have decided to operate a four-day working week; and when he will be in a position to give the firm instructions to proceed on the contracts they have with his Department.

Mr. Sandys

I understand that one third of the firm's employees at this works began a four-day week on 9th November. The Ministry of Supply contract on which the firm is engaged at Bracebridge Heath, Lincoln, is not a production contract. The contract is to repair R.A.F. aircraft as the need arises and short-time working should cease when the next batch of aircraft for repair, which is expected shortly, reaches the works.
