asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he will give an assurance that claims for compensation arising from the murder of British subjects in Egypt will not be prejudiced in any settlement which may be reached.

Mr. Eden

Yes. As the hon. Gentleman is probably aware, compensation in Egyptian currency has already been paid in respect of British civilians who lost their lives in the Cairo riots last year, although the money has still to be remitted to the United Kingdom.
