§ 79. Mr. Pagetasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he will make a statement with regard to an expulsion order served on Mr. D. J. Nelson, in Trinidad on 5th November.
§ Mr. LytteltonMr. D. J. Nelson, who is a journalist, was born in the Leeward Islands and went to Trinidad in 1950. He was granted a temporary permit for two years under the immigration Regulations and this was extended for a third year which has just ended. The Trinidad Government has decided that he cannot be permitted to become a permanent resident as this would be contrary to the policy they have been following for some years which is aimed at preserving employment in Trinidad for Trinidadians.
