HC Deb 18 November 1953 vol 520 cc165-6W
75. Mr. J. Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether the Falkland Islands Government will publish a newspaper, since a local broadcasting service is not adequate for literate people.

Mr. Lyttelton

I understand that there is no evidence of sufficient demand to warrant publication of a newspaper as a charge on public funds. New broadcasting equipment which will shortly be brought into use will give greater scope for the relay of B.B.C. news and commentaries.
