§ 94. Mr. Hastingsasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies if he has yet been informed of the result of the trial of two Europeans charged with the manslaughter of Elijah Njeru Gideon, a sufferer from tuberculosis, who was beaten to death.
§ Mr. LytteltonBoth were acquitted of manslaughter but were found guilty of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They were fined £100 and £50 respectively and bound over for one year in their own recognisances of similar sums.
