asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer the value of the post-war credits which are still unredeemed; and by how much this figure would be increased if they had carried interest at 3 per cent. since they were issued.

Mr. Boyd-Carpenter

The amount of post-war credits at present outstanding is about£572 million. If each credit had been accumulated at 3 per cent. compound interest from the end of the year in which it was originally created, this figure would be increased by£184 million.
