Priceasked the Minister of Agriculture the number of fatal and lion-fatal accidents which have occurred 64W on farms during the last five years as a result of bulls getting out of control; and if he will make recommendations to minimise these occurrences, particularly in relation to boys and junior apprentices employed in the countryside.
§ Sir T. DugdaleThirty-eight fatal accidents occurred on farms during the four years 1949–52 as a result of bulls getting out of control. Figures are not available for 1948, nor are figures available for non-fatal accidents. None of the fatal accidents concerned persons under the age of 20 years.
I am reviewing the general question of promoting the safety of workers in agriculture in the light of the recommendations made in the Gowers Report and other suggestions that have been made to my Department from time to time.
