HC Deb 11 November 1953 vol 520 c53W
105. Mr. Dodds

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty what decision has been reached in the consideration given to the building of trawlers and fish factory ships for the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; on what date the first contract was offered by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; and how long the matter has now been under his consideration.

Mr. J. P. L. Thomas

The first contract for the construction of trawlers and fish factory ships in the United Kingdom was offered by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics early in September last and the matter has been under consideration since then.

I hope that a decision will be reached shortly, and I shall inform the House as soon as I am in a position to do so.
