HC Deb 10 November 1953 vol 520 c27W
89. Sir W. Smithers

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he has considered details which have been sent to him of the difficulties experienced by the shipping industry; and, in view of the fact that this industry plays a vital part in our national recovery, if he will go into the matter and do all in his power to meet their difficulties in the next Budget.

Mr. R. A. Butler

I have considered the details sent to me, but my hon. Friend will not expect me to anticipate the Budget statement.
