asked the Secretary of State for Scotland the cost of building repairs for the years 1920, 1924, 1930, 1939, 1945 and 1952, respectively, expressed as percentage increases of the cost for 1914.

If the cost of house repairs in Scotland in 1914 is taken as 100, the approximate index figures are as follow: 1920, 250; 1939, 193.

The figure for 1952 as the White Paper explains is three times the 1939 figure, that is, 579.

I have no reliable information for the other years, but I have no reason to believe that the figures for 1924 and 1930 would differ much from the figure for 1939.
