HC Deb 22 May 1953 vol 515 cc186-7W
Mrs. Mann

asked the Minister of Food the value of Scotch whisky as a dollar export during 1950, 1951 and 1952; and if he is satisfied that this export is being bought and sold at its true value.

Major Lloyd George

The values of exports of Scotch and Irish whisky to dollar markets in 1950. 1951 and 1952 have been as follows:

£
million
f.o.b.
1950 21
1951 22
1952 24

I have no reason to think that whisky is being sold in dollar markets at less than its true value in competition with other beverages but I would refer the hon. Member to the replies given recently to the right hon, Member for Ipswich (Mr. Stokes).
