HC Deb 21 May 1953 vol 515 cc178-80W
Mr. Slater

asked the Assistant Postmaster-General how many applications for telephones are still outstanding in the rural districts of Sedgefield, Stockton and Darlington; and what steps are being taken to meet the applications.

Mr. Gammans

There are 113 in Sedge-field. 322 in Stockton and 76 in Darlington. About a third of these are in course of provision. Some additional exchange equipment and cables will be provided during the next two years, but I regret I cannot say when the waiting list will be cleared.
