Major Hicks Beachasked the Minister of Transport if, when considering proposals for the deviation of roads in connection with the safety precautions for aerodromes, he will bear in mind the possibility of introducing a system of traffic lights on existing roads in order to save the expense of such deviations.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydI always bear in mind the possibility of traffic control as an alternative to road diversions. Traffic lights have been installed at some places for this purpose, but other forms of control, for example pickets with "Stop" signs, are sometimes more satisfactory. I am at present arranging, in conjunction with the Secretary of State for Air, for an experiment with a mechanically operated gate.
