asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is aware that rayon staple fibre is now an important raw material of the cotton textile trade; and what is the present rate of import duty on this raw material.

One-seventh of the total raw material consumed in the cotton spinning industry at present consists of rayon staple fibre nearly all of which is produced in this country; the present rate of import duty on this material is 9d. per lb.
