Hallasked the Minister of Labour the number of able-bodied men and women registering at the employment exchange in the county borough of Gateshead; the average length of unemployment of the people unemployed; and how many of those on 72W the register have been offered employment in the past three months.
§ Sir W. MoncktonThe numbers of unemployed men and women on the registers of the Gateshead Employment Exchange at 13th April were 1,050 and 520, respectively. The average length of time for which they had been unemployed is not known, but the following table gives an analysis, according to duration of unemployment, of the numbers of wholly unemployed persons on the registers at 16th March (the latest date for which such an analysis is available):
