Mr. Vanghan-Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how much of the £140,000,000 available under the Colonial Development and Welfare Acts has been spent; and how much is now ear-marked for expenditure.

Mr. Lyttelton

£136,314,632 has been allocated, i.e. committed for expenditure: of this, £70.804,840 has been spent.

Mr. Vaughan-Morgan

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how much of the sums available under the Colonial Development and Welfare Acts have been spent in Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, British Guiana, British Honduras, Barbados, Windward Islands and Leeward Islands, respectively; and how much has been ear-marked for expenditure.

The following table shows (a) the amounts allocated for expenditure in the territories mentioned, and (b) the amounts actually spent: —
