HC Deb 06 May 1953 vol 515 c29W
81. Mr. Hamilton

asked the Minister of Food what water content of butter in the United Kingdom is permitted under his regulations.

Dr. Hill

No Regulation concerning the maximum water content of butter has been made by my Department, but under the Food and Drugs Act, 1938 (Section 32) it is an offence to sell, offer or expose for sale any butter that contains more than 16 per cent. of water.
