§ 52. Mr. Hobsonasked the hon. Member for Woolwich, West, as Chairman of the Kitchen Committee, if he will give figures showing how the trading loss for the year ended 31st December, 1952, is made up, giving the loss on meals and refreshments served in the Members' Rooms, the Press Rooms and the Westminster Hall canteen.
§ Mr. W. A. StewardThe reply is as follows:
£ Members Rooms (including rooms to which Members invite guests and the Cafeteria) 8,308 Press Rooms 1,911 Westminster Hall Canteen 1,943 £12,162 These figures are before taking into account Treasury Aid, which, as the House knows, represents a reimbursement to the Refreshment Department, of moneys paid in wages to the regular staff, during periods when the House is not sitting. This Treasury Aid in no way subsidises Members' meals, upon which an actual profit is made.
