HC Deb 04 May 1953 vol 515 cc8-9W
65. Major Anstruther-Gray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland for an estimate of the annual saving to the Department of Health for Scotland consequent on the reduction in the rates of Purchase Tax proposed in the Budget.

Mr. J. Stuart

A reliable estimate cannot be framed without much labour, but it is thought that the annual saving to the National Health Service in Scotland might be of the order of £50,000.
