HC Deb 31 March 1953 vol 513 c136W
Mr. Llewellyn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in the preparation of his Budget, he will bear in mind the prevailing opinion among all denominations that Easter offerings to the clergy, and equivalent offerings, should be tax free.

Mr. R. A. Butler

The extent, nature and weight of prevailing opinion on this as on other matters must be ever present in a Chancellor's mind when he is framing his Budget proposals.
