HC Deb 31 March 1953 vol 513 cc145-6W
Mr. Emrys Hughes

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry' of Defence how many persons voluntarily enlisted in the Regular Forces in 1952; and how many at the time of enlisting were employed in agriculture and on housing, respectively.

Mr. Birch

The total number of men and boys who undertook voluntary engagements in the Forces during 1952 was 103,315. It is not possible without a disproportionate amount of work to say how many of these were employed in agriculture and on housing at the time of enlistment.
