HC Deb 26 March 1953 vol 513 cc94-5W
Mr. Vane

asked the President of the Board of Trade the approximate annual consumption of wood flour; the capacity of the wood flour producing plant in the United Kingdom; how much wood flour was imported during 1952; and which were the main countries of origin.

Mr. P. Thorneycroft

In 1952, consumption in the United Kingdom of home produced wood flour amounted to about 22,500 tons, and imports, principally from Sweden and Norway, to 10,189 tons. It is difficult to estimate precisely the capacity of the industry, but production in 1951, which was the highest in recent years, amounted to about 34,000 tons.
