HC Deb 26 March 1953 vol 513 c112W
97. Miss Lee

asked the Minister of Fuel and Power how many coal miners had to leave the industry because of contracting pneumoconiosis in the years 1950, 1951 and 1952.

Mr. Joynson-Hicks

Owing to the nature of the disease there is no record of the year in which an individual contracts pneumoconiosis, but about 80 coal miners in 1950, and 101 and 112 in the two following years, were advised to leave the industry or suspended on account of having pneumoconiosis with tuberculosis.
