§ 31. Mr. Holtasked the President of the Board of Trade what representations he intends to make to the Nigerian Government about the increase in import duties on cotton piece goods announced in Nigeria on 7th March.
§ Mr. P. ThorneycroftThe increases in duty apply to imports from all sources and have, I understand, been imposed for revenue reasons. In the circumstances, whilst I regret that the Nigerian authorities have found this step necessary, I do not consider that there are any grounds on which I could effectively make representations.
