HC Deb 26 March 1953 vol 513 c113W
Mr. Bossom

asked the Minister of Food if he will ensure this year that there will not be such large imports of fruit pulp as to cause the home-grown plums to be left on our own trees in Kent.

Major Lloyd George

It does not follow that further restriction of imports of fruit pulp would cause jam manufacturers to buy any more plums from British growers. They are already producing as much plum jam as the public will buy and almost the whole of this is made with home-grown fruit.
