§ 62. Mr. M. Lindsay
asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer why foreign diplomats stationed in Britain are not permitted to buy British cars free from Purchase Tax, in view of the fact that they are able to import foreign cars free from Purchase Tax and import duty.

Because diplomatic privilege does not extend to indirect taxation.
