HC Deb 26 March 1953 vol 513 cc107-8W
Mr. Marquand

asked the Minister of Health what proportion of total capital expenditure on hospitals during each of the years 1948–49, 1949–50, 1950–51 and 1951–52 was attributable, firstly, to making good war damage, and secondly, to maintenance or extension of mental hospitals or to the construction of new mental hospitals or institutions for mental defectives.

Mr. Iain Macleod

I regret that the information asked for in the first part of the Question is not available. The estimated capital expenditure on mental hospitals and mental deficiency institutions during the years referred to was respectively 13, 17, 15 and 21 per cent. of the total.
