HC Deb 24 March 1953 vol 513 cc67-8W
54. Mr. Swingler

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Ministry of Works, as representing the Lord President of the Council, if he is now able to make a statement on the new lines of research into the incidence of lung cancer among gas workers to be undertaken by the Medical Research Council.

Mr. Molson

The Medical Research Council have been in consultation with the medical officers of those gas boards which have a full-time medical officer with a view to an investigation into the occupational and medical histories of gas workers. An investigation of the type contemplated would necessarily take several years to complete and early results cannot be expected.
