HC Deb 24 March 1953 vol 513 c69W
62. Mr. Rankin

asked the Minister of Labour why recruitment for training for the coal mines has been stopped.

Mr. Watkinson

The recruitment of inexperienced men has been stopped or restricted in certain areas where the demands for this type of worker have been substantially met. This suspension does not apply to boys wishing to enter the mining industry, who are particularly welcome.
