HC Deb 19 March 1953 vol 513 c21W
20. Mr. Sorensen

asked the Minister of Health what progress has been made in the provision of accommodation for blind people in single rooms with communal facilities in house or hostels in England and Wales; and approximately how many are being thus accommodated.

Miss Hornsby-Smith

Precise figures are not available, but local authorities and voluntary organisations are conscious of the need for accommodation of this type, and of the additional accommodation for 1.093 blind persons provided since 5th July, 1948, a substantial proportion is in accommodation of this kind.
