§ 82. Mr. Harold Daviesasked the Secretary of State for the Colonies what directive has been sent out preventing meetings of the Northern Elements Progressive Union in Kano City, Nigeria.
§ Mr. LytteltonNo such directive has been issued. No political party has, however, ever been allowed to hold public meetings inside the walls of Kano owing to the danger of a breach of the peace in this densely populated city. Permission for meetings outside the walls has been given freely to both the Northern Elements Progressive Union and other political bodies.
