HL Deb 18 March 1953 vol 181 c192WA
LORD AILWYN

asked Her Majesty's Government what is the latest information available regarding the relative proportions of Chinese and North Koreans composing (a) the enemy ground troops; (b) the enemy air forces; now opposed to United Nations Forces in Korea.

THE MINISTER OF DEFENCE (EARL ALEXANDER OF TUNIS)

The United Nations Command estimate that the enemy ground forces in North Korea number just over one million men. Of these, about 750,000 are Chinese and 250,000 North Koreans. Of the Communist air forces engaged in the Korean theatre, the greater part are Chinese and the North Korean contribution is small.

House adjourned at one minute past ten o'clock.
