§ Mr. TurtonThe approximate amounts paid in England and Wales in the years 1947–52 (figures for the calendar year 1946 are no longer available) were as follows: 1947, £21 million; 1948, £15 million; 1949, £15 million; 1950, £14 million; 1951, £10 million; 1952, £19 million. The amount paid in 1952 by employment exchanges covering the county of Flint was £116,000. I have no records of amounts paid in individual areas in previous years.
