§ 78. Mr. Rentonasked the Minister of Materials what steps he proposes to take during 1953 in order to reduce the cost of carrying out the duties of his Department.
§ Sir A. SalterI am trying wherever possible to reduce the duties of the Department in connection with controls and public trading. I indicated the reductions in administrative costs which are expected by 30th June in the answer I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Kidderminster (Mr. Nabarro) on 23rd February. The further reductions anticipated in 1953–54 as a whole are reflected in the Estimates which will shortly be presented.
