HC Deb 13 March 1953 vol 512 c155W
Mr. Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what discussions he has had with the Minister of Labour on the possibility of using unemployed men on the clearance of storm-damaged timber.

Mr. J. Stuart

I am in close touch with the Minister of Labour on this matter. About 100 men, who were previously unemployed, are already at work on clearing the windblown timber; and in recruiting additional labour the fullest use will be made of the services of the unemployed.
